Just 'cause your kids!.....
excerpt from vanilla fries and jalapeno shampoo a new !Quick&Now! guide....
Yes, there are marketing morons, internet idiots and local losers peddling dangerous and unhealthy products to kids. They are selling products that include tobacco, snuff, cigarettes, and tobacco alternatives.
Herbal Chews/Snuff....Wow, lots of different products trying to get attention with flavors and words like "herbal" and "all-natural", when they are neither. Here are 2 of the most popular and most honest mint chew products offered.
Jake’s Mint Chews...ingredients: vegetable glycerin, mint, water, organic vegetable oil, natural and organic flavors (they have several flavors)...??? It looks quite safe. They use real mint and no filler. Their website has a charitable foundation to help educate kids on the horrors of tobacco snuff/chews. They seem to truly believe in their product. Check out their website.
MintSnuff...Oregon Mint Snuff Co... singing beavers commercial...list of ingredients from them, not on website...maltitol syrup (a sugar-free solution derived from corn syrup that does not promote tooth decay), mint, natural flavors, tocopherols, potassium sorbate (preservative). Mint Pouches: sucrose, maltodex- trin, mint, natural flavors, soy lecithin, dilicon dioxide..???mint as second ingredient?...why so much sweetness?... Check this one for yourself.
Clove cigarettes are offered as an alternative or substitution for tobacco. Clove cigs are 60-70% tobaccoo! According to U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention they produce twice as much nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide as regular cigs. Major active ingredient in clove cigs is eugenol, topical anesthetic used in dentistry...can numb throat and impair gag reflex. No way!
Flavored tobacco cigarettes and flavored pot cigarettes. These are available to kids, but not usually sold by retail stores. They are sold locally by people who tell kids the herb flavoring/scent will keep others from knowing you are smoking, tobacco or pot. They say herb flavor/scent will stop tobacco breath and the smell clinging to clothes and hair. Same for pot. Not true! Tobacco is tobacco and pot is pot. No herb or botanical can change this. Nothing changes the smell of burning tobacco or pot. Stay away from these!!!!
Energy drinks....I have been researching energy drinks lately and find many are not natural, not herbal, not healthy and not worth their cost. Good news, there are good ones. Now is time to use your new investigation skills. Here are a few facts. Young people under 25 are about half of the soft-drink market and energy drinks is the market's fastest-growing segment. Kid-oriented marketing with catchy names, cute slogans, flash ads, designer type cans seems to overcome their high price and potential for harm and abuse. The main ingredients are sugar and caffeine, which create a sudden sensation of energy, jolt.
Caffeine is the most widely used drug on our planet. It stimulates the central nervous system, creating a feeling of alertness. It is easy to find and use. It is in coffee, tea, Coke, Dr. Pepper and Mountain Dew, to name a few. It is known to raise heart rate and blood pressure when used in large amounts. If using more than 200mg per day side effects may be felt, sleeplessness, rapid heart, headaches, nausea, and nervous jitters. Most energy drinks contain between 70 and 200mg of caffeine. 8oz cup of coffee, drip= 110-150mg . But, used sensibly as a food, not a stimulant is perfectly safe and reports show caffeine has nutritional and health benefits.
Sugar. Glucose is the body’s preferred sugar/fuel.
A lot of sugar, you get hyper. Energy drinks sugars are sky high...therefore..jolt of energy. Too much sugar=health problems. Sugar 'kick' results in a"crash" after an hour or so.
Sugar-free versions use aspartame, sucralose, or a combination of artificial sugars.Aspartame=180 times sweeter than sugar...energy value (nuitrition)same as sugar, so same energy burst. Sucralose =600 times sweeter than sugar and 200 times sweeter than aspartame. But, it has no energy value (nuitrition) because the body can’t break it down, so it produces no energy, other substances are used to give the jolt, vitamins, nutrients, and herbal supplements.supplements
