ALERT !!!!!
Important for all kids...please read this, kids....and...also...all significant adults.....
Once upon a time...when I was a teen (back in the dark ages...before pc’s or devices...) The silly things I did, thought or said were not known by many other people. The stupid things I did, were hopefully not seen by others.
But, now......social media...youtube...the whole world and all your peers sees everything you do, say or even think (and write down)......!!!!
Is this a good thing? Not, when it involves lack of information...lack of experience...no thought of risk...and..wouldn’t this be cool/rad/whatever thinking!!!! This can describe mistakes made by most any/everyone on the planet....but, especially, teen persons. I am not labeling all actions or choices made by teen persons as bad or wrong...only questioning how you think or not think...are informed...and... how you share our choices and decisions.
Now, this SPICE thingie going on on youtube...I will not use the name of it, because that gives it more publicity and spreads the dangerous non-information of the video.
Wow, everyone says this "new" thing...what, new?...
Did you kids really believe this is a ‘new’ thing? Did you think that you were the only kids who had ever thought of some fun-type of ‘breath" idea or a challenge/dare? Sorry, you are late on the scene. I have had kids and adults tell me about this activity for years and years. They learned it "...at summer camp, at a sleep-over at their cousin’s, in scouts, on a sports road trip, from their older brother/sister, when I visited my grandma..."...and these are not from merely kids, but a generation before... parents. Seems this stupidity is a multi-generational activity.
But, before, no social media...no video....no statistics on the number of kids in hospitals or with permanent damage to their growing bodies. Of course, no one in my teen time could influence so many others to take the dare or promote risky behavior.
Let’s look at this ?fun? activity a bit closer. If you tried it, you took a risk and made a bit of questionable choice and probably have too much spare time to waste on stupidity like this. If you promote it, you either do not care about anyone else’s health and safety or you, even now, have no knowledge of herbs, spices or botanicals and are promoting ignorance. I prefer to believe it is your lack of information.
If you check, you would find that many spices are caustic (caustic >adjective 1 able to burn or corrode organic tissue by chemical action. ) Organic tissue means YOU, YOUR BODY!
I am putting these in a list I will post here later this week. In the meantime, if you are not sure if a spice is dangerous...place a bit of a ground spice on the tip of your tongue and if it burns, don’t ingest it in quantity.
Would you sniff or inhale black pepper or chili powder or garlic salt? NO! It would hurt.
I teach a workshop on making spice ornaments for the holidays. The ingredients for the dough are spices and applesauce. We use rubber gloves to shape the dough into holiday goodies, because the amount and spices (several) used will burn your skin. In fact, you can feel the heat thru the glove if you work on the dough too long. It isn’t a secret that spices must be used with care.
To put them in your mouth in quantity is only done because of LACK OF INFORMATION, I hope. And that is what I am here to do...give you and your significant adults knowledge of herbs and botanicals and how to use them for enjoyment and improving your health and well-being...as well as tasting good.
Please, email me or leave a comment here on the site if you want to know something about herbs and botanicals. Pleasw do NOT try the dare/challenge in any form. Help to stop this ridiculous event...
